going's on...NOT

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday season.  From the blogs I have read, it seems everyone did.
Yep,  I been sand-bagg'in ( sitting on the side lines) and just reading blogs.   I have had some computer issues since I last posted and it has been another headache and very much irritating and also just plain evil. I wasn't sure if I had a virus, but I had some issues which I think I have gotten fixed.
I am sure that my blog was hacked somehow, it was getting weird, and I couldn't post to some blogs.  My computer tech who is a whole lot smarter than I helped me to work some issues out, by phone, and I think that I have some of it worked out.  I also was getting some just down right porno photos from some whores on Twitter, and I stopped that right off the bat.  I am sorry that I use strong, salty sailor words, but I call it as I see it.  If you want to whore around, do so on your own time, but not on my blog, and don't sent filth to my email.
We have had some political issues here and some animal rights issues and I think that some Nebraska blogs have been tampered with.

It is snowing here at the moment.  Maybe about 2 inches at the moment.  Nothing to get in a twist about.  Boy the other day, Monday, Tuesday morning, it got down to -6* F.  Very little wind so not much wind chill, and about an inch of snow, south of us, some small towns got 12 inches of snow, and it dropped down to -16*F. A little chilly for early December.  I was going to go our and take my camera and run about town while on errands and catch some photos of the corn that is being harvested and all of it piled on the ground at the CO-OP, but like the bug problems and the blog problems, why not car problems.  I call it Murphy's Law, it generally follows me around like a black cloud.  Anyway, waiting for a part. Now try to find a part for a 89 Cadillac, like finding a needle in a haystack.

The house smells delightful as I have a small pot of chili going.  Since it is chilly out, chili sounded pretty good.  And I can't do anything outside anyway, except scoop off the sidewalk, which I did, and then came back in.
The house is in a twist also, as I am cleaning out drawers, closets, and it looks like a federal disaster area.  But only for a short time.   We have stopped painting for a short while until it warms up a bit, then we can finish up that little chore.

It has been quiet around the ghetto here for a while.  The rental to the south of me is still open, everyone who looks at it tells the owners it looks like **** (I'll let you fill in the blank) and so yesterday, the owner's mouthpiece was over trying to see what was wrong with it.  Well for one thing, it is not cleaned, the former tenants had 5 dogs in there and did not let the dogs out, I will let your imagination fill in here, and for the finale, the rental has no heat and it got to -6* the other day and the water is not drained and guess what!  Last night after supper, I was out, letting the dog go outside and I heard a large amount of water running, and at first, I thought it was my place, so I looked and listened, then seen water just a bubblin' out of the north side of the rental where the small bathroom is located.  It looked like a fountain.  And I did have a good laugh.  Couldn't of happened to a better bunch of idiots, (evil grin)   So, I see someone is over there this afternoon, its still bubbling away and they don't know how to shut off the water.  There is a water shut off underneath the trailer in the middle where the main line comes in.  Anyone who lives in these things needs to know this so when you have a problem, you can at least shut the water off and not have too much damage.  But we are not dealing with intelligent people here.

Well, I had better get back to my sorting of stuff and clothing.  I have piles to go to the thrift shop and the rest to the trash.

Snow, Snow, go away

Good Morning Everyone,

Well, we had one of those whopper Spring blizzards, we generally get one or two of these every year.  What a mess.  I had one hell of a time getting out of the front door, and opening up my poly zipped cover I have around my porch that is on the North side of the house.  I am not sure HOW much snow, but the winds were 50-65 mph during the night and I have 3-4 ft drifts around the house. (It just came over the radio, we had a inch of rain and an average of 4-6 inches of snow, but with the winds, it really drifted).

I will get out this afternoon and open up my steps and porch and post some snowy, white photos, for your enjoyment, LOL.  I don't think that my chives and walking onions are laughing at the moment, though.
Right at the moment, the sun is shining, and it is raining east of us in Kearney, to Omaha,.  This storm is a very slow mover, what makes it bad is the wind.

So, other than that, there isn't much to talk about,  definitely can't get out in the garden, unless you want to grow snow tomatoes or something that can take the cold.  I covered my greens and lettuces a few days ago, covered my Asparagus, and I put my berry canes in pots under my car port and covered them with blankets.  Hopefully they will be ok.

I want to take the time to thank all of you for well wishes and get well's.  It has been many years, really since I had my cancer surgery 13 years ago, that I have been so ill and droopy.  And to be honest, I didn't  really take to heart how run down I was, no wonder I could not get moving, and then to get the flu and really run down was a low point for me, but I am improving every day, I see strength returning everyday, and take it one day at a time. Again, thank you for all of your love, prayers, thoughts, it means so very much to me, and hugs and love to all of you.  I guess, I have so many to look after, that I forgot to take care of me, which sounds selfish, but if you don't take care of you, you cannot take care of business, or family, or commitments as there is no one else to do it.  So take it from me, make sure you all take care of your selves.

Well,  I am going to start to get dressed, somewhere I need to find my boots, (somewhere), and I need to find a sweat shirt somewhere also, think those are put in the closet so got to dig those out.  My snow removal guy should be around later today or tomorrow, but I want to get some photos so you can laugh at me and my snowy world.

We have a bull's eye on us

Good Morning everyone.   I hope that all of you have productive weekends and warmth to work in your gardens, and enjoy the coming spring.

I just wanted to thank everyone who emailed me or posted to see if I was feeling ok from the sinus junk I was fighting,  I am fine, it would help if we would just have better weather.  Cold then warm then back to cold.  Again, thank you for all of your thoughts.

Speaking of Spring, I don't think that it   is in the cards here.  The weather wizards around here posted winter storm watches, and advisories as of Thursday afternoon,  for Monday through Wed.  Generally when that is done, we have a bull's eye on us and blizzards in the make'in.

Personally I am tired of the cold and snow.  I know, I know, it is moisture for the plants, and gardens, BUT, Pleeeeeease.......
I am tired of it.  We are starting our general Spring season of a few days of nice then, BAM, snow, cold, blizzards, ice, thunderstorms, hail, a mixed bag of everything.  One time, we had thunderstorns and tornadoes then by the next morning, a blizzard with a foot of snow. I seem to  recall the blizzard of 49' which my folks said that it was the worst time they had ever endured or seen.  I have only seen photos of this from grandparents and my parents, it is mind boggling to say the least.

I put one of the Butterball turkey's I bought on sale in the oven to roast. I also put a small beef  roast on for a elderly couple for the week, I'm not supposed to do this, but they did not need anything else, so I've got my turkey and roast going on convection and it should be done soon, and I will drop this off while I am running errands.    If we are going to get snow and can't get out, I thought I'd better do a turkey for my folks and I to make dinners and sandwiches out of.  If I can't get out for a few days, my folks will have several days of dinners till I can get out and about.  So after lunch, I will run errands and drop of a plate of turkey to the folks, and make sure they have some grocery items to tie them over for a few days, and run my roast by for my cute little elderly couple, and I should be good to go.   I generally run errands either on Friday or Saturday, but I had to run yesterday and now today, so I am making my list and putting a little gas in the car, which I don't like to do, we are the highest price for gas in the state, which has always been like this since I can remember, it was like this when my folks were small here also.  Go figure.  I will be doing my in home cooking for my elderly folks as we see how the weather will behave.  I checked with all of them and they told me they would be fine, as most have extras that I make for them, so I think everyone is set and ready to go.

Really not too much in my little neck of the woods going on.  I am waiting for my berry bush canes to come.  I hope by then the weather will start to straighten up so I can finish freshening up the soil and checking the pH for my blueberries.  I hope that I did not bite off more than I can chew with this berry bucket grove project.  I am sorry that I do not have too much to show off in the garden area worth talking about.  Best laid plans of mice and men.......

Well, I'd better get off my butt and get ready to run soon and get everything done so I don't have to worry about anything, and it can dump what ever on us and get it out of its system, Sheeeh.......

Round 2 snow maker

Thank you for your kind comments about Miss Nubbins.  She is my little star and one of my favorites, though I love my kitties equally, she has a very special place in my heart.
I had some questions about how she got to that point, and to tell you the truth, Doc and I weren't real sure.  Doc had an general idea, as when she was brought in, she smelled heavily of diesel fuel, and had dirty motor oil all over her coat.  She also came off of a ranch around the area, and when Doc did an inspection of the legs that were sliced, there was some metal filings on the bone, and he was piecing a theory that the trucks were brought in from the ranch, put in the barn, the engines were hot and this happened in Dec of 2000 and if I remember it was running -30 below wind chills so she went up into the engines to get warm.  This happens quite a bit, more than people want to know.
I will assure you she was a mess when I got her, and she was very, very tiny, which is why she survived, Doc said, she was bounced around in the engine  block like a ping pong ball when the engine was started up. Doc's guess was she was up on the radiator on the top of the engine and she bounced from the top to the fan. It was also very cold and the cold stopped the blood from flowing and helped until she was placed with Doc.   I think I will stop there.

Well, sounds like snow again here.   And for my readers in the south, it sounds like it will migrate down your way like the last batch we had here Wednesday.  Only this time, we are to get the 30+ mph winds which make it cold and miserable, and more like a blizzard.  So more cabin fever this weekend.  I have some of my seed order made out,  I am trying to try a few new tomatoes, and some peppers, what I am dealing with is the fact of time and my physically able to do all of this.  I don't want to give up gardening, I would be a complete stark raving idiot, but I do know that this year, I am having much more back pain and I now have a hip that is really giving me fits, and doctor mentioned that I am way too young to have a hip surgery,  and it wouldn't even be attempted unless I fell and broke the hip which would put me out of commission.  But I want to be able to garden and handle things.  That is why I am working on the idea of a more accessible raised beds using stair stringers to elevate some of the beds up so I can get to them without bending.  I do know that I can only afford to build a few, so these I am planning will be for greens and spinach and will be designed as to make a simple cold frame or hoop house and be able to cover them with greenhouse plastic.  Then next year I will tackle more and a little different for tomato and peppers and other sturdy garden plants.  My plan is simply to built with comfort in mind and more efficient with water, possibly able to hook up a type of drip irrigation system so I just have to have a hose hook up and then just turn on the hose. I also want to build them so they can be taken apart if I ever move this trailer someday.   Ah, best laid plans of mice and men.

Really other than the snow and cold going on, there really isn't much.   I have some people that moved into the trailer to the south of me, and I don't think that they will stay very long.   They were moved in only 2 days and on Sunday, I could hear them fighting clear through my house, though we are very close, so I knew that this would end up doing something later and I was right.  Sunday evening about 5 pm, they were outside screaming with several other people, and I do not put up with any of that at all,  I'm not going to listen to the words and screaming that I heard. So, I called the cops and it didn't take very long for a unit to get over there, and after that, they don't even make a sound.  They are in and out and gone in very short order.  We'll see how this goes.  We have 3 new bunches and they are all kids, so, that should tell you how that will go.  Usually not very good, especially when it gets warm and the party weather gets going. Time will tell, and I will give them the benefit of a doubt.

Well, I guess I had better get going, Need to run some errands before it SNOWS again.  Need to put some gas in the car, which I have heart failure when I do.  I only put  in about $20 worth, as I don't drive too much.  And sometimes I just use the Handi-bus if I don't have too much to do.
