Weekends get me in trouble

Well, I'm in the kitchen, cleaning out the cupboards.  Oh, what a mess!  And then you find something else that needs your attention and there is where the trouble starts.  Its like a snowball, just keeps getttin' bigger n' bigger.

So, I'm just working a little bit at a time, one cabinet at a time, and I'm getting rid of things that I don't need or want or just plain throw away.  I have a pile outside on the porch for the GoodWill donations, and then the junk pile.  I close my eyes when I throw as I don't want to drag it back and find a spot for it. Don't have no room for anything in this dumpy place I live in.

Also found a damn flea, I usually find a few jumping around this time a year, so I guess Monday, off to the vet's to get the spray and some Frontline, and then a few bombs, looks like I will have to bomb the rooms and move the cats to the car and the dogs outside til the bombs get done fumigating the rooms. Damn.... Always something.....&*$@

I am going to fix some ham and navy beans tomorrow, since I am now in cleaning mode and once I am in this mode, I do not stop, I have some energy so, look out, I'm in gear and on the move. And I hate to stop and cook, so out comes the crock pot, (found that finally, buried in the back of the cupboard).

I have been reading a few blogs and this is what a lot of my fellow bloggers are doing, cleaning and de-cluttering.  Boy, when I de-clutter, I have a whole winter to do it.  I am going to start tackling each room as I can, probably a room a week.  And just heave it, (wish I could just throw it out the door and throw some kerosene on it and throw a match), but I would have a 3 alarm fire here, don't want that.

Anyway, hope all are well, and sounds like everyone is cooking or vegging out, so enjoy the weekend and all that you find enjoyable and restful in your lives.  Will be back to blog about some things on my mind.

Till then
Bye!

  1. Decluttering is freeing. I need to do some purging myself.

I've been feeding our feline girls 1/2 tsp each of brewers yeast in their food each day. We have 4 girls, so I mix up 2 cups of dry, with a couple of tbs. of wet, plus 2 tsps of brewers yeast and a little water. Sometimes I add some fish oil. The fleas are not on our girls, 3 are in our small barn, they don't go outside of it, and the other one is an outdoor girl and visits us indoors. I read about brewers yeast online and thought I'd give it a try. So try it, as it will be good for them, not some chemical that they will have to deal with.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  2. With the frequent moves we have made [from one house to another that husband built--we lived in several while they were on the market] you would think we had weeded out all the unnecessary STUFF.
Not so. If I recover from all this canning there are stacks of boxes and bins to be rummaged and sorted.
In 8 months of being here we've not finished renovating either indoors or out. Nearly done inside and maybe we can figure out some graceful arrangements of furniture.
Yes, with pets there is always "something." I've been nursing a dear old cat through a bout of [hold on here!] ringworm. I was horrified by the diagnosis but our vet said it is a fungus that lurks everywhere.
Praying that the rest of the felines [and their owners] do not succumb.

  3. You sound like me. I move from job to job and finally have to stop and think what it was I originally started doing...and go back and finish it.

I still haven't cleaned out the bottom freezer drawer....not my favorite thing to do but it must be done.

  4. Hi - I wandered over from Sharon's blog.

You don't need to bomb the house for fleas. If you don't have a major problem with them coming in from outside, a couple of months of advantage should do the trick. If you have more serious ongoing problems, a spray that contains an insect growth regulator will do a better job. A problem with the bombs is that unless you turn over and lift things up, they don't get to the right area. A direct application spray can be used to get under furniture instead of raining down on it.

I haven't used anything more than a sudsy bath, a flea comb, a two month course of advantage, and some extra vacuuming to disturb any eggs and get them to hatch out faster in the interim for years now. I've got a houseful of critters of various types, so this isn't just someone with a single pet making the suggestion. :) I also use a 1 cc syringe to break up the larger tubes of advantage - I needed to do it anyway for the pocket pets. If you do it, just make sure you have the correct doses for the size and double check your measurements.
