I must say, that if she can afford to keep 3 pot-bellied pigs as pets, then she can't be TOO hard-up.
However, nor am I hard-up. But I always grow-my-own simply because I like it to be fresh, I like to know what's helped it grow, and it comes from a veg' isle that's a damned sight nearer to the kitchen than the local supermarket.
What a good article. I shall try cleaning out my main fish pond a bit at a time (long overdue!) and use some of the "slurry" water on veg. Worth trying. I think telling people that however SMALL their plot, even in totally urban areas, you can still grow something edible is important.
